2010 Jesperson Award Winner

WYOMING WILDLIFE FEDERATION ANNOUNCES
2010 JESPERSON AWARD WINNER
TRISTA NIEKUM

Trista Niekum is a senior at the University of Wyoming, completing her B.S. degree in Earth System Science with a concentration in biology. She is interested in the interactions between trophic levels of a food web, especially when an invasive species has been introduced into the ecosystem.

Studying how invasive species affect ecosystems can help decrease the damage that is caused by the invasive species. She has studied the effects of Glen Canyon Dam on the resource base of the food web to better understand the impacts to fish populations in the Grand Canyon.

Being awarded the Dennis Jesperson Award will help further her research by allowing her to study how an invasive snail and four invasive fish have affected the food web of Kelly Warm Springs, near Pinedale.

Wyoming Wildlife Federation is proud to award $500 to Ms. Niekum for use in her research.

The Wyoming Wildlife Federation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

WWF gives to National Guard

Our fence project with RMEF was canceled Saturday due to snow and rain. We will reschedule for probably sometime in July.

Because the event was canceled we had a lot of sandwiches and no one to give them to. As you know, the Lander area has been hit with flooding, and FEMA has set up camp at our airport, and the National Guard has come as well. We figured instead of having the sandwiches spoil we would give them to the National Guard. They were very appreciative. See the pictures attached.
